This is only preliminary info - but it looks like it was a strike-slip #earthquake, which is NOT the "thrust" type that creates big tsunamis.
Definitely still pay attention to emergency channels for official info - but so far looking like BC is going to be OK.

I currently have Kodiak, AK KMXT FM 100.1 streaming on Radio Garden. Things seem calm but the report is that the tsunami warning is still in effect for at least another hour. Estimated time for wave arrival in Kodiak ~40 minutes.

Evacuees are reminded to remember to wear their masks.

Sand Point, AK just reported a wave of 2 to 3 feet. No other locations reporting levels yet. There are multiple waves of varying heights to be expected over several hours. Sounds like this may have been a lucky day for Alaska and everyone else in the potential wave area so far. Fingers crossed.

Tsunami warning for Alaska has been downgraded to an advisory according to the EOC (Kodiak Emergency Operations Center) and the NWS. The all clear has NOT been issued, however as EOC is still checking shorelines, roadways, and bridges. Everyone is asked to stay in place until further notice.

eta Kodiak reporting wave height of under one foot. Hallelujah for this turning out to be a nothing burger!
