In good economic times, you don't give away all your revenue to the Rich

with tax cuts that do nothing for jobs or the economy.
Because a crisis could be just around the corner where you will desperately need that money.

A simple idea that too many Americans simply can't grasp.

I seem to remember people talking about something called a "rainy day fund".

Maybe we needed something like that

The "rich" - especially those who got rich through inheritance, real estate or stock speculation - are not creating ANYTHING. They horde wealth and may buy a few material things, but on balance not nearly enough material items to make up for the lack of capital circulating at the lower end of the economic scale.

This is really pretty simple...picture a water slide as a metaphor for the economy. Now on this water slide, instead of allowing the water to flow all the way through the path, divert 90% of the water to a side slide that only 1% of riders get to use. Next, go to the bottom of the slide and interview the people with fiberglass burns on their legs and back after attempting to use the normal slide path with only 10% of the water in it...doesn't work very well for the 99% in most cases.

Not a perfect analogy by any means, but you get the point - siphoning off 90% of the revenue in the system, to be retained in the upper 1% of the population, leaves too little for the rest of society to properly function and too much for the rich to spend in economically productive ways - sure they can spend it, but $$$ used to protect their $$$ from society is NOT productive use! It breeds malcontents and sets up dictators and wannabe strongmen to gin up that anger into fear and hate, and then it only takes words of assent to direct that against other people.

What is happening in America is no accident or even really the "fault" of a brainless automaton like Trump - it is the inevitable outcome when greed and malice overtake empathy and equality. Our courts are bought, our Senate represents a minority as the majority of votes, our House of Representatives is gerrymandered to the fare-thee-well, and the Presidency has been stolen by a minority vote candidate twice in the past three men to hold the office, with a potential repeat brewing now...

What is the biggest problem in American politics today?
Healthcare?
COVID-19?
Jobs?
Civil unrest?
Racial tension and injustice?

NONE OF THE ABOVE!

We are in a sleazy bastardization of the American experiment now. One man one vote has never been further removed from reality.
Citizens United destroyed American elections and gave cover to dark money groups to utilize their cold hard cash on the worthless whores in Congress that will sell out their constituents and fellow citizens for pennies on the dollar just to feather their own nests and retain a seat in the halls of power, even if that seat is only as safe as their fealty to the pay master.

This country is being run by a broken government. More important than any other issue confronting us now is to QUICKLY fix this malfunctioning jalopy because all the other problems will not be addressed at all under this current system.
