Rick Scott calls for cruises to resume
Scott argued its time for the federal government to pave the way to resume commercial cruises.

U.S. Senator Rick Scott said Wednesday its time for the federal government to pave a path to resume commercial cruises.
The Senator, appearing on the Brian Kilmeade Show on the Fox News Radio network, asserted that hes been trying to get the Centers for Disease Control to work with the cruise industry on a way to bring back the sector that has been shuttered since the March advent of COVID-19.
The current CDC no-sail order extends through the end of October 2020, and the Senator clearly believes even that is too long to wait without usable guidance to bring the sector back.
150,000 jobs in Florida, Scott said. Just tell the cruise industry, come up with a plan of how they can get back to work safely.
The Senator expressed frustration with the opaque federal process.

(29,222 posts)but with a few rules changes...
no crew other than the captain and top officers and what used to be called the black crew (engine room staff). That is, only the crew needed to power and steer the ship. They will be totally isolated from the passengers. Passengers bring their own food and kit, no shows or activities... and after the cruise is over the passengers will need to be isolated (totally) for a period of 14 days and have two negative Covid-19 tests before going home.
even before the pandemic cruise ships were well known as super spreader floating petri dishes.

(2,343 posts)like going to a couple sporting events, with plans to go to college football game in a couple weeks. We are going back to restuarants some, and we flew to Florida for a few days a few weeks ago. So, we are taking some risks to get back some semblence of normalcy.
But...a cruise is a bridge too far for my tastes at this point. They shouldnt be allowed. Disembarking 5,000 people with reasonable exposure to COVID who then disperse across the country would be a bad thing.
No way.

(2,030 posts)He's the one that decimated Fl's unemployment system. Think he gives a shit about those 150k folks? He's been tied up with the corrupt mob run cruise industry for decades. He's probably in debt to them as much as Troebbels to the Russian mob.
