his official ad on facebook says that and his polls show the race much closer than what the media is saying.
sort of an odd thing to say seems to me

(6,559 posts)I haven't seen that ad, though, which is why I asked. "Bold PAC" and a few others are going extra hystrionic, and I've now dropped thiem from my emails for that reason.

(14,077 posts)to make sure people get out and vote. I havent seen any polls that indicate that the race is tightening in any meaningful way.

(26,045 posts)...I dont think a steady drumbeat of were losing!!! is a good way to get people to show up and vote, particularly this year, when doing so puts them in at least a slightly-higher risk of COVID.

(13,623 posts)It's always going good. We'd be dead all morning and a couple people would come in and comment about it. I'd say we were pretty busy for awhile, and that they had good timing showing up now. I like the join in, everybody's doing it message.
Last winter the blood center I'm retired from had ads saying donations were down, as was the need for blood at hospitals, but we still need you! WTF was that? That was my reaction. I say always get footage of friendly staff and smiling donors at a busy drive. Get some to comment and use them in the ads. They recruit people just by their friends being jazzed that they got on TV.

(26,045 posts)...but I really dont understand the point of ads with poll results (which dont seem even reasonably close to any found on the major analysis sites) showing us losing each and every swing state by several points. I know we want to avoid complacency but, as an excellent DKos article from a few days ago pointed out, continually proclaiming ignore the experts were going to lose seems pretty counterproductive. If even the campaign is admitting that Trump will be re-elected, why bother standing in line for hours to vote (particularly during a new outbreak of COVID)? Why bother chipping in $$$ for a lost cause. Like I said, I understand not wanting people to be overconfident, but this approach makes no sense to me.

(44,974 posts)In 2016, people were convinced that "the cake was baked." I was never convinced because many polls were too close. But people presumably became complacent and some didn't bother to vote because supposedly we had it in the bag.

(8,685 posts)I think complacency, that she had in the bag, would not have been in the top five or so.

I don't agree at all. If it's a damning indictment of anyone, it's a damning indictment of Fox News/OAN, rwing radio, and social media. The Democratic party has no control over what sources of "information" people consume, and unfortunately, that's what forms their opinions.

(3,784 posts)I panicked a bit when I saw that ad, but then I realized that it was just a way to get people to keep contributing AND doing the groundwork. You can say it's dishonest, but I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt, that he just wants us to keep our foot on the gas and not let up. I think everyone knows he's blowing Trump out of the water in the 3 swing States that will put him over the top, but if he actually said that, who would give him money in those States? I wouldn't worry too much about it. His own internal polling (which is the gold standard, and usually wildly accurate, when it comes to polling) was leaked last week and showed him way ahead in those States.

I didn't even open it. It was obviously another solicitation for money. I donated twice recently and all of a sudden they pound me with at least 3-4 requests per day.

(10,565 posts)For instance, Mark Kelley's campaign asked for $ because they are losing. It's just not true.
