A First In MI v. MN Game Yesterday

For the first time ever in a power 5 conference game (that's a lot of schools, a lot of games), the entire officiating crew was made up of black people.
All 8 on field and the 4 off field officials were black. 9 guys, 3 women.
I'm not a college football fan, but I thought this was notable.

Do you happen to know if it was purposeful? In other words, did they go out of their way to compile this crew or did just happen as a normal course of scheduling.

I actually think the 3 women is a more surprising aspect of that stat considering how under-represented they are. Great on both accounts though.

...I'd say it was arranged. Big 10 just enacted some social progress initiatives this week, so this game may have been the "we're not kidding" exclamation point.
From the video clip, it looked like only one of the women was on-field. The vid was a quick cut montage of the officials in action. Pretty sure I only saw one woman.
Another thing I heard: minorities plus women are 22% of the officiating contingent in the Big 10. That number seems solid, except for the fact that half of everyone is female! Not sure how many women are interested in officiating football, but if they're part of the 22%, I think we can fairly say that's underrepresented.
