Question about the absentee ballot returned counts in the US Elections Project. It seems like a lot of requested ballots are still not returned, giving the impression that the USPS shenanigans are having an impact. That said, the Ohio count on this sight is 1.9M returned out of 2.7 requested but the SOS in Ohio said yesterday that 2.7 have already been returned. Is it possible that one is the count of how many have been accepted and the other the number no longer en route but maybe not looked at yet?

(609 posts)You should go to the election office and say you have returned your ballot but has not been registered and ask the clerk what to do. In your state, there should be a voter protection hotline. In Kansas, there is a voter protection line and an email as well. Reason being, you need someone to "allow" you to cast a provisional ballot. It is important someone "allows." Otherwise, it is a felony. So, go to the election noise, make headlines. If we keep quiet, yes, shenanigans will win. If you make some real noise, suddenly all ballots will appear on Nov 3rd magically. Call newspaper as well.

(11,927 posts)I called and they emailed me one. I submitted it through Egress (secure Dropbox) that several states use. Sent it back yesterday, got a receipt, will log in on Mon or Tue to check acceptance.

(42,288 posts)We see lots of people come in on election day, absentee ballot in hand.. Never got around to it. Or they change their minds and go in person early.
Ohio processes as the ballots come in but there may be a reporting delay.
As an aside, the ballots are processed but the tally is hidden until election day when it takes representatives from both parties to release them.
