(131 posts)Have to give a big shout out to Beto. His campaign in 2018 registered so many new voters. I'm really starting to feel like the high turnout could end up giving Biden the state!

(7,947 posts)And they won't have voted last time, and are 2/3rds Dem.
And to be crass, I have to add-- every year a bunch of old people die, 2/3rds of them probably GOP.
Demographics favor Dems.

Youth numbers are up but not in relation to percentage of overall vote. Given Beto's efforts I suspect the percentage of young registered voters has increased.
Young voters tend to vote late. Banking as many as possible early is a good sign. There has been youth registration and turnout emphasis on Snapchat and TikTok.
18-29 bracket by definition always has inflated number of voters who didn't vote 4 years earlier, because some of them were 14-17 years old at the time.

(529 posts)But 500,000 new votes doesnt mean they are Biden votes. Even if they are 60% Biden votes, its only a pick up of 100,000 votes.
Trump beat Clinton by about 808,000 votes in 2016 so there is a lot of ground to make up.
Not sure Texas will turn blue this time, but it is trending closer and closer. If it does turn blue Id expect a Biden landslide.

(12,286 posts)To turn texas blue we need about a million more voters.

(44,974 posts)I presume most of them will. But TX is a low turnout state (or at least was in past elections). TX has millions of non voters (people who didn't vote in previous elections).
So if turnout is increased anything can happen.
