Why isn't trashing Liberals considered hate speech?

You should see the stuff flying around on Facebook and popular discussion fora. "Liberals need to be dragged through the streets," and so on. If you substitued any other group identity it would clearly be hate speech. Why would "own the blacks" be hate speech but "own the libs" is just fine and dandy? We have seen how speech can results in actions with fatal consequences. Why is hate speech for political beliefs perfectly OK?

Hate speech usually involves a group that has a common characteristic. Liberals aren't a monolithic group from any of those perspectives and can't be easily categorized so it doesn't really fit the common definition.

I really do think this is a highly organized, well funded machine that will not stop despite the winner of the election.

Hate crimes will be disposed of as "unconstitutional" very soon.

The country is moonwalking with no intention of slowing down until a proper theocratic authoritarianism is put into place. The court is the most important piece. Easy sailing from here on out. A more competent, intelligent tRump awaits in 2024.

The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that hate speech is legally protected free speech under the First Amendment.

If they actually threaten someone, that is a different matter entirely.
