In the last couple months I have received several voicemail messages that come from my area code and in most cases the prefix as well, and each message says the same thing... "stay safe and stay home."
I know people can spoof area codes and numbers etc etc, but these are a little creepy and I wonder if others are getting them as well.
Wherever these are originating, the people need more constructive things to do in their lives.

(16,616 posts)I personally would contact the editor of my local paper, share your story and ask if they have received similar stories, and maybe ask them to investigate to see if this is a widespread phenomenon or whether you are being personally targeted.
Also, ask around. Ask your neighbors if they have received these calls.

Strange robocall Time to stay home
So I got a weird call today from a 352-538-XXXX number and it was a robocall that said This is a test call. Time to stay safe. Time to stay home, and then it disconnected. I Googled the number and couldnt match it to anything. It was so weird/creepy! Anyone else get a call like that today?

It looks like this could be widespread. And these threads are from a few months back (2 months and 3 months ago).
This is strange. Thanks for making that post and bringing to everyone's attention.
I'll keep looking.

(16,616 posts)Again, thanks for sharing this. A call like that would have scared me a little bit, but knowing so many people are getting them makes me think it's nothing to worry about. Just another desperate attempt to intimidate people.

TEXT: NYS resident.
Ive been getting weird robocalls from a computer generated voice saying,
This is just a test call. Time to stay home. Stay safe and stay home.
Then it disconnects.
Really creepy.
This seems like voter intimidation happening in several major areas: Texas, NY, Florida (?).
I'm just glad it isn't a personal threat to you. This is some last-ditch and widespread effort to scare people.

(16,616 posts)It seems widespread and people who receive these calls are being told not to be intimidated by them.
It also seems real amateur hour, although getting a call like this would have scared a little bit before Googling it to see that it's nothing to worry about.

(290 posts)It was literally two seconds. It sounded like RI Governor Gina Raimundo's voice and I assumed it was just a PSA that misfired. (I work partially in RI and have to follow contact protocols so we occasionally end up on their emergency lists). It was still creepy as hell.

(21,620 posts)but the computer must have been talking over the voicemail message because by the time the "beep" came i just got the last half of the message "stay home. time to stay safe" computer generated female voice. obvious voter suppression effort. probably by a jacob wohl type.
