Police investigate Phoenix officer's threat to Mayor Kate Gallego
https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2020/10/27/mayors-office-phoenix-officer-threatened-mayor-kate-gallegos-safety/3753242001/A Phoenix Police Department officer made a credible threat to Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego's safety, according to Jeanine L'Ecuyer, the mayor's communications director.
In response, the Phoenix Police Department released a statement Tuesday that did not directly confirm that an officer made a threat but confirmed that an investigation was taking place in regard to "claims of misconduct" by an officer.
"The Phoenix Police Department takes claims of misconduct by its officers seriously," the statement said.
The officer involved has been assigned to home during the investigation, according to the statement.
