Stress is high for me but I expected that it would be. Im still feeling cautious because of memories of 2016. But Im so very hopeful.
Im hanging on and grateful weve made it this far. We all need to heed the warnings of the fact that COVID is going upwards again.
How are my fellow DUers doing? Everybody okay? Staying safe? How are you feeling about next Tuesday...and realizing it may go beyond Tuesday, of course.

(12,286 posts)A real roller coaster.
I have faith that the people want trump gone, and bigly.
But I have all these fears of stolen elections, millions ballots tossed for mismatched signatures, voting roll purges, election day violence, and court interference.
I think those are irrational fears and that we will win.
But I am stressed the fuck out over it for sure.

(3,213 posts)I'm still worried about cheating and the Supreme Court getting involved. Otherwise I would think this is a guaranteed Biden landslide.

I would be SO happy to see my beloved Texas return to its blue status.

It doesn't seem to help. If anything at all goes wrong and Trump loses, our nation... it's unthinkable.

(4,637 posts)Its the first time since I turned 18 that I wont vote. Last summer, I finally took care of an outstanding charge from back in 2007 and am now a convicted felon. I get off probation on 11/7, and the process to try to gain my rights back looks to be a long one (and possibly a long shot at least for now). All this over what was originally a possession charge. The failure to appear, my abject stupidity in missing court over a decade ago, is what landed me the felony conviction.
I looked into being a polling place volunteer but am not allowed to participate that way either.
Ive been cheerleading, got my bumper stickers on, and talking to friends, family, and coworkers to make sure they vote. Thankfully, all but 2 are all in for Joe and Kamala!

(4,637 posts)Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
There is a silver lining to my story: Ive been clean for about 10 years now. Im alive, healthy, and have repaired my relationship with my parents.
My state has a blue super majority in the state house, so a smart, simple process for restoring felons voting rights should be a reality in the near future. I hope.

(4,637 posts)This is such an important election, it is killing me to sit it out.
I slipped in quietly, after the lunch rush, to vote in both 2016 and 2018, paranoid and scared as hell. But it was too important to miss and was worth the risk of possibly being seen.

(20,220 posts)Admittedly, I WAS so stressed that I scheduled a vacation for all of next week, but I needed to take it anyway.
I voted yesterday around 5:30 pm and there was NO LINE. The machines were new to me, but I really liked them. You insert a paper ballot, do your voting on a touch screen (they gave us a little cardboard stylus), then it prints out the ballot and you can SEE YOUR VOTES before you feed it into the electronic ballot box.
Harris County (Houston) has 8 voting locations around the city that will be open 24 hours starting tomorrow through Friday.
As of yesterday, Texas has passed the 8 Million mark, which is almost 90% of the 2016 TOTAL!

Then, I'll start sleeping normally again about January 22nd.
Until then, I'm a mess. Mood swings, constant anxiety, and algebra with my online school kid.

(5,559 posts)I keep telling myself that our strong areas in south florida likely have a ton of mail in ballots they haven't processed / logged as received due to population density and being overloaded.
I keep telling myself I can't model or extrapolate based on early voting totals, and read Nate Silver's comments on it to back that up.
But darn if I can't help but worry about those FL totals.
I've gone from supremely confident in a Biden win to just very confident.
