especially the back arrow. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm wondering if hackers are doing trial runs for another election day hack?

(36,903 posts)Firefox has been slowing down in general for me every now and then. I usually close and reopen the browser in order to resolve the issue (I think it is related to updates).

Right click the task bar, choose "Task Manager" and see which program is hogging RAM and CPU resources.

nslookup democraticunderground.com
If it takes too long, it is probably the DNS server that is slowing down your links. Open network connections and add 8.8.8.8 to the DNS server list. So if your ISP's DNS servers are busy, google's DNS (8.8.8.8) will provide a quick name resolution.
then type (in the Command Prompt)
tracert democraticunderground.com
It will trace the route from your computer to the DU web server. See if one of the routers along the path is hanging -- it will show you 30 hops and how long each hop is taking.

(32,097 posts)Most of mine involve embedded Twitter videos. They just updated, and I haven't checked whether or not it's been fixed yet. I suspect any slowness is due more to the increased Internet traffic from people working or schooling at home.

(146,338 posts)With what provider are you connected. Issues connected with providers are usually responsible for slow Internet speeds. We get slowdowns once in a while with Comcast, but they go away after a while.
It's not DU's fault that your Internet is slow today.

(146,338 posts)It's almost always on the local end of things. DU has a very good hosting service. Any time there is a problem on your end, DU should be the last thing to suspect as the problem. It will almost always be your Internet service provider, or a problem with your particular personal setup.
The first thing I do is to switch to a different browser when there is a slowdown. If it has the same problem, I suspect my ISP.
As many have told you, DU is working just fine.
