(90,827 posts)One of our neighbors used to do a super haunted house every Halloween, and parents would bring their kids from miles around for the thrills and chills.
Im telling you, though, if he had ever done a murder scene like that, he would not have had any friends left.

(14,857 posts)When I was a teenager, I set up a "ghost" on a pulley system that moved down the hallway to the front door of my parents' house. The head had a big smiling face and the body was a large pillow case full of candy to hand out to Trick-or-Treaters.
Even that made some of the younger kids scream and run away! I usually caught up with their parents, apologized and handed them some candy. They seemed surprised by the reactions too. Lol.
The "scary" sounds playing from this record probably didn't help.

(300 posts)There's a distinction between scary and gross-out, and this display clearly crosses the line. True horror is a sublime emotion that operates more on a psychological than a visceral level, and it doesn't manifest through sheer quantities of blood...

(61,698 posts)the FBI would do a deep background check on the homeowner.
What little kid would want to ask for candy at this house? (Maybe the display is to keep kids away.
This is nightmare material, even for me.
Its sickening.

(7,596 posts)I think this guy lost sight of what Halloween is supposed to about. If hes a fan of slasher movies, he could have just had displays of Jason, Freddy, etc. instead of this Jeffrey Dahmer-esque bullshit.

My display is kinda Disney haunted mansion-themed.

I thought that it was wildly inappropriate, but this guy with his blood and guts display is disgusting.

And I agree, for being in public view, it's a wee bit over the top.

(4,594 posts)You gotta be kinda stupid to set that up for public consumption. Maybe for a commercial house of horrors but not just in your front yard.
