(16,937 posts)HELL, NO!!!!!!!
First, when the baby cried or fussed, he'd look for somebody to hand the phone to.
And besides, when he announced who it was they'd probably hang up!!!

The only time he'd bother, is if Putin, Bibi - or some other despot dangling a large bribe - were at the other end!

(15,290 posts)Got a call from a Biden phone banker a few days ago. They gave the exact same spiel.

(8,445 posts)But for some reason, when a phone banker for any of my candidates calls, I can't seem to shut myself down so they can move on to the next call.

(15,290 posts)and like it when they actually have their call taken and a friendly voice on the line. I kind of do it to buck up their spirits.

(25,894 posts)Were I to receive a phone call from Obama I'd be racing around trying to figure out how to record it. Which I'm sure I couldn't do, and I could only hope people would actually believe me that I'd gotten a call from him.

(25,894 posts)Lucky her!
I have actually been in the same room with Obama, in 2006 I think it was. It was at a Kansas Democratic party event, and I didn't go up and shake his hand, mainly because all of the African American servers in the room were very eager to greet him. I knew I had no right to step up in front of any of them. As a white person, I realize I can only sort of get what it must be like to finally see someone who looks like you as President. I have no regrets about not going up to him then. If I'm lucky, I'll have another chance. And if not, oh well.

(25,894 posts)At least I have the memory of being in the same room with Obama. For me, no pictures are simply an Oh, darn.

(8,445 posts)I went to see him at a campaign rally here in my city. I got turned away because the venue was already full. I thought to myself that it was fine. I already knew I was going to vote for him, and I was overjoyed that so many were so eager to see him, and I was fine with relinquishing the space I would have taken to give someone else that opportunity. I bought some shirts and rushed home to watch him on television. No regrets, but if I ever get the chance again, I don't think I'll give it up.
