Undelivered mail ballots found at Miami-Dade post office

Special agents with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General discovered 48 pieces of election mail sitting in a post office in South Miami-Dade County on Friday, the office announced Saturday morning. Forty-two of them were ballots that had not yet been delivered to voters, officials said, while the other six had already been filled out and were brought to the Miami-Dade supervisor of elections Friday night.

The agents “combed through every bit” of mail sitting at the Princeton post office near Homestead on Friday after reports of a backlog of mail piling up at the facility just four days before the Nov. 3 election.

“Office of Inspector General special agents confirmed the presence of delayed mail and subsequently located approximately 48 pieces of election mail,” said Scott Pierce, the Special Agent in Charge for the USPS Inspector General’s Southern Area Field Office. The USPS “immediately arranged for the delivery of the election mail.”

You think this is the only example? Drop boxes mean nothing. Checking registration online means nothing. Being touted on a partisan political site means nothing. Everyday Americans are going to have no idea they are on a voter roll list and were supposed to receive a ballot. Some will show up and try to vote. Others will skip it completely.

This USPS stuff was always going to impact the margins. Did anyone expect 42,000? I'm ticked at 42 because I understand how that applies across the country. Drip...drip
