... wait for it ---------- they don't want Biden because Trump warned them that he will turn the USA into a socialist country! OK - then, why doesn't Biden and Obama simply ask them - did Obama turn our country into a Socialist country while he was president. He certainly had plenty of time to do so had that been true! I mean really -- OBAMA WAS PRESIDENT -- BIDEN WAS VICE PRESIDENT -- FOR 8 YEARS!

(17,863 posts)still hold out hope of getting their property back from the Castro government? I have yet to understand why it isn't in the interests of Cuban-Americans to reestablish normalized relations with Cuba. There will be no quicker way to bring a market economy back to Cuba (and hopefully a more Democratic country) than open relations with Cuba.

(10,014 posts)Cubans from Florida always trend Republican. Some are still fighting the Cuban Revolution in their minds.

(31,261 posts)They used to play a very dominant role, but with younger Cubans splitting their vote more and other immigrant groups making up a much larger potion of South Florida, the influence of Cuban voters has waned, they only become important in razor thin elections.

(14,757 posts)The bay of pigs was in 63. The revolution ended in 59, but most exiles left much earlier I would imagine. So unless they were toddlers during the revolution, they have to be in their 80's or more by now.
Sure, cubans have been swimming ashore for years. But those aren't the ex land owners. They may hate castro, but for different reasons.
Still, there are supposed to be about 900k of them in miami/dade. But how many are first generation, revolution exiles?

(609 posts)If anyone, Cuban or no Cuban, would believe Trump, all hope is lost. I really don't have much sympathy for Trump believers. First time, okay, you got fooled. Fooled twice, sorry, go to h___.

(9,956 posts)... when Obama was going to turn the US into a socialist country. He was also going to take away everyone's guns, never leave office, etc...

(451 posts)And Trump reversed that. How do Cubans in Florida feel about all of that, I wonder.

It's not something to worry about. It's like trying to win a majority of non-college educated white men.
