Obama rips Trump's 'obsession' with crowd sizes during rally for Biden:

'Did no one come to his birthday party as a kid?'

Former President Barack Obama ripped President Donald Trump during two drive-in rallies in Michigan on Saturday, criticizing his "obsession" with crowd sizes.

Obama spoke at two events in Flint and Detroit for presidential nominee Joe Biden, who appeared alongside the former president for the first time in the 2020 campaign, which is in its final stretch before election day on Tuesday.

In a blistering speech, Obama railed against the current president, saying he cares more about his ego than addressing the coronavirus pandemic.

"What is his obsession, by the way, with crowd size?" Obama asked about Trump. "This is the one measure he has of success. He's still worrying about his inauguration crowd being smaller than mine."

He probably had to pay them to come to his party.

Obama trolls GOP over coronavirus 'control' admission and lack of healthcare plan

Former President Barack Obama lit into Republicans, specifically White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, over their failure to contain the coronavirus pandemic or pass a healthcare law to replace his signature policy, Obamacare.

During his second stop in Michigan with 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, his two-term vice president, Obama riffed off of Meadows' admission last week that the U.S. wouldn't "control" the COVID-19 outbreak.

"We've got his chief of staff saying, he said this on TV, 'We're not going to control the pandemic.' Flat out just said it," Obama said Saturday in Detroit of President Trump's top aide. "We noticed. Yes, you're right. And that's why we've got to have Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House."

Obama similarly dinged Republicans for promising to ensure healthcare coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, but struggling to turn any of their proposals into law.

Obama in Michigan: Trump cares about his ego, Biden cares about 'keeping your family safe'

Barack Obama assumed the role of Joe Biden's character witness on Saturday in Michigan, contrasting his one-time vice president's "decency and empathy" with President Donald Trump's focus on "feeding his ego" amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The two events Obama headlined in predominantly Black cities -- first in Flint, Michigan, and later in Detroit -- looked to drive home the point that Democrats can't take this election for granted after depressed turnout four years earlier doomed Hillary Clinton in the state. Obama used both events, the first time the duo has been on stage together with either one of them on a presidential ticket since 2012, to focus on Biden's character, using it to draw a stark contrast to Trump.

Obama's remarks included blistering rebukes of Trump -- including mocking his focus on crowd sizes and belittling his economic achievements -- but the events stood out from earlier Obama appearances because of the way the former President touted Biden's character.

"Joe Biden is my brother. I love Joe Biden. And he will be a great president," Obama said in Flint, noting that while he didn't know Biden well when he selected him to be his running mate, he learned quickly that Biden treated everyone with "dignity and with respect."

Obama in Flint: "He's accusing doctors of profiting off this pandemic...[Trump] said doctors are overblowing it because they're going to make money off of it. He cannot fathom, he doesn't understand that somebody would risk their life to save others without trying to make a buck"

Obama on Trump's obsession w/crowd size: "When a country's going through a pandemic, that's not what you're supposed to be worrying about. That's difference between Joe Biden & Trump right there. Trump cares about feeding his ego, Joe cares about keeping you and your family safe"

Obama: "Canada identified its first [coronavirus] case the same week that the US did ... our morality rate is 2.5 times higher than Canada. If we had the same percentage of folks dying in Canada as we do here, nearly 90,000 would have died instead of 230,000."
