I was hoping 8 years of Democratic policies with control of DC following Obama's 8 crippled years would improve wellbeing enough that people like that would be more interested in where to vacation than resenting others.

That's just been my impression while driving through those areas and seeing "Mammy" statues for sale in TN and such. TN was also the place where my angry father left a walk-in fast-food restaurant without ordering because the black customers in front of him were told they had to eat outside. That was in the 80's, though.
