With tears in his eyes, this 17 year old thanked me today

for wearing a VOTE face mask with a blue background at the high school where I work. This young man is gay. I asked him if he had voted and he said that he was one year short of the age requirement but that he desperately wished that he could have because “this time it’s more important than ever.” I understand that his life will be so much more difficult if the republicans are victorious, even more so than many of us.

I told him not to worry, that I would be sure to vote twice today, one for him.

I have no problem believing that the youth vote will be high this year. They have more at stake than ever before.
