(34,857 posts)That's why the deadline was reinstated back in October. Plus, there were plenty of other options available to vote. It sucks but people need to be mindful of these things when they wait until the weekend before the election to mail their ballots.

(44,974 posts)In many cases ballots arrived late. Some people never got their ballots.

(34,857 posts)And that likely means any legal battle will be tossed out based on that fact. It sucks but that's how the Georgia courts ruled.

(44,974 posts)Originally they were told they would get 3 extra days, then the court ruled they weren't.
But not everybody is up to date on the latest court ruling.

Seriously?
I guess they do. Magical thinking, complacency and carelessness.

(34,857 posts)It's strange. I bet there's a lot of people who likely don't even realize there's issues with the mail.

(9,500 posts)I am pretty the Supreme Court would say no. I think the first thing they should look at is postmark date (if there is one) to determine how long they may have been sitting.

(44,974 posts)"A: For now, absentee ballots would be counted if theyre postmarked by Election Day and received at county election offices within three days afterward, according to a judges ruling. However, the secretary of states office is appealing that decision and seeking to reinstate a state law that sets the deadline at 7 p.m. on Election Day."

Judge Sullivan's order that USPS sweep for ballots will play into this.

(7,875 posts)One of the Biden administration's top priorities should be investigating and prosecuting DeJoy and whoever else was involved in this disenfranchisement.

He has single-handedly made this the biggest clusterf*** in history.

(6,477 posts)But if you put your ballot in the mail on Sunday for a Tuesday delivery in a state that doesn't count ballots received AFTER election day, you're an idiot, and don't deserve to have your vote counted. The rules are clear.
LisaL
(44,974 posts)They were going to get 3 extra days but that was appealed and denied. But originally they were told they were getting 3 extra days.
