(18,530 posts)Most of the jobs available there are still with the state, and Rick Scott has made that situation untenable. State workers in Florida are the lowest paid in the United States and haven't received raises in over five years, though the cost of living and of health insurance have increased and benefits are cut annually. The work atmosphere with the state is paranoid and toxic, as the fanatically right-wing state Congress seeks constantly to deregulate and eliminate programs and positions, and many of the workers have pre-existing medical conditions, so they feel unable to leave the jobs they hate.
I'm glad to be gone from there.
