(10,602 posts)I realize how little has changed. It was trickle down back then and we have it again. At least the public was smart enough then to figure it out even though Randolph Hearst vomited his propaganda back then.

(1,593 posts)there was Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) before him. Today we have Jon Stewart, Steve Colbert, Lewis Black, George Carlin and others. Granted political comedian/commentators today are more vulgar than Will was but still ... I'd love to get all these guys in a venue together and then sell tickets.

(17,181 posts)I think Will Rogers also never met a man he didn't like. Good thing he was born before Mitt Romney.

(6,747 posts)When I die, my epitaph, or whatever you call those signs on gravestones, is going to read: "I joked about every prominent man of my time, but I never met a man I dident [sic] like." I am so proud of that, I can hardly wait to die so it can be carved.
