I couldn't stand Russert, since he was CONSTANTLY all over every damn rumor and accusation during the Bill Clinton years.

(135,425 posts)NBC cuts the paycheck. They both danced to the master's tune, but Russert danced a bit more gleefully, I think. Then, when Timmy's ass was on the line during the Plame thing, and he was hauled before the grand jury, he started to drink and sweat and get flabby (or flabbier). Did that stress cause him to have a massive coronary? Could be.

The man was lower than whale shift on the deck of the Titanic and his demise was no big loss to anybody but Gregory has proven how easy it is to replace a whore with another whkore.

(135,425 posts)and got Dumbya so pissed that he started babbling angrily in Spanglish: "Que bueno!" or something along those lines--it was like the moron thought DG was trying to talk around him, rather than do what foreign correspondents normally do ANYWHERE -- speak in the language of the person to whom one is asking the question, if at all possible.
It was a very revealing moment for Dumbya. Not in a good way either.
Gregory is not as bad as Russert. He could do a better job, though, certainly.

(89,251 posts)he was able to connect to viewers by discussing things like sports and other things. he would make family references of being irish catholic . talk about his dad, son etc.
he loved kids and loved it when guests would bring their kids .
but he was whorish when it came to doing his job.

(135,425 posts)The first book was "sweet." When he turned Pops into a franchise, it turned my stomach, frankly--particularly when he didn't have a damn thing to say about the woman who wiped his ass as an infant and cooked his meals and cleaned up after him all those years. There was no "Mom" book in him, and that I found curious.
I could write a great book about either one of my parents--I don't think I am all that unusual or lucky. Surely he could have found a book about his Ma in there, somewhere?

(8,879 posts)I saw him as a tough but fair host. I bought his book that was a collection of stories from people about their fathers. To the lay person - to a younger me - he was genuine.

(87 posts)Russert was great! Relentless! An actual journalist! All I see in tthis thread are bitter little whiners!

(22,976 posts)I saw it with my own eyes. Tom Brokaw shot this one strange quick look, a sidelong glance with a lemon-sucking expression before a breakaway, and he telegraphed that he was NOT happy that Limbaugh was in the studio. (Not that Brokaw is any flaming liberal himself.)

Does a female newb have rights here? Or should I just shut my purdy little mouth and wait for male guidance?

(19,374 posts)What is a factor is your rude comment about members of this board. Tim Russert has a long history of betrayal to Democrats and Progressives. That he now seems to be jumping on the bash Romney train is probably more a matter of professional survival than true core belief. So nobody here is "whining", although "bitter" is probably justified to a lot of people here who endured eight years of Russert carrying Bushco water.
You're free to make any of your opinions known, and comment or engage in discussions as you wish. But coming in a thread and insulting people is not part of the program, and the attitude you're displaying so far is going to make for a short stay I'm guessing.

(18,048 posts)I remember the Russert years, and Gregory lacks very basic journalist skills that Russert had. Russert would not have allowed the Warren debate to go down like that, regardless of his politics.
It's almost like they ran out and got the most boring, lackluster person they could find to do the job. If Wolf Blitzer were free they probably would have tapped him. *snore*

(11,464 posts)wasting Dennis' debate time with alien talk.
and then helping to get Dennis banned for all time.
And Russert of course let his father rot in a nursing home or whatever, and made millions selling out.
