Once upon a time they were very critical of open-ended military operations and demanded clear exit strategies.

But hey, Karl Rove's new ad is now using Bill Clinton as an example of decisive action, when they used to complain about him firing multimillion-dollar missiles at guys in tents.

Bill Clinton was a draft dodger, John Kerry was a flip-flopper, Barack Obama was an elitist.

Romney is all of these to the max yet he gets a free ride. It's not because of the media so much, it's because the right-wing has nothing so they have to resort to childish name-calling. Democrats are the grown ups who want to focus on what's best for the country.

generation (my own) I've ever known of who supported the war, while hanging onto their student deferment and then immediately finding a draft exempt job. Those guys were few and far between however, and very much distained among most of my generation. Kerry changed his mind on a few positions (the mark of an open mind, in my estimation), but didn't blatantly change his stance just to please whoever he was pandering to at the moment. Romney's father ran for president, although he'd been born in Mexico ( though of good, white Mormon stock) and I don't think the issue was ever raised). Trust the Republicans to go with a nominee who outrageously embodies everything they've unfairly hammered Democratic nominees about.

one of any religion could claim the same, if they had the "pull" to be taken seriously.

Older members of my "born in the 1950s peer group" had similar sentiments.
