(45,003 posts)It seems pretty obvious that Romney
has studied Reagan mannerisms almost as
much as he's studied himself in the mirror.
We'll just hear "There You Go Again" (and again)

dusty old unoriginality and lack of ideas or detail.

(47,675 posts)That would be good.
The debates will go as expected. Obama will come off as cool, collected, and intelligent. rMoney will come off as a wealthy buffoon. Biden will fuck up a bunch of times, but still get his point across and rLyan will just spew bullshit.
It won't change anything either way. Obama already knows he's going to win. The only opposition we have now is over-confidence and apathy. If people don't get out and vote, Obama could lose.

As for myself, I'll watch MSNBC and hope Rachel Maddow is running the show.

Rachel's super intelligent, but can explain things so even I can understand it.
And Martin Bashir's super smart and has a great dry humor.

Romney will demand to know what's wrong with carrying your dog on top of the car, and will argue that the dog had a great view and lots of fresh air up there.
Also will defend the height of the trees in Michigan, and defy President Obama to explain why he thinks the height is incorrrect.
Finally, he will explain why harvesting companies is exactly the same as harvesting, say, carrots or rutabagas.

(48,955 posts)This is odd - I am a policy wonky sort of person. I have professionally worked in policy, and have dealt with data and interpreting policies in a career area that is sensitive to policy changes and that frequently faces changes in policies at the local, state and federal level.
This debate has started off by both the President, and Romney so steeped in policy - that even I (granted I am greatly fatigued while I listen) am starting to mentally tune out.
I can't imagine that folks will keep paying close attention past the first 10 minutes.
Maybe some "zingers" or big moments are in store - but if folks watching have tuned out, they won't still be paying attention when those occur.
Hard to "change the game" when folks start mentally tuning out.
