... close at all per the CNN exit poll, which DID include mailed and early-voters in their numbers:

https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/exit-polls/president/national-results

The white evangelicals were about 42% of all the white voters -- 27% white evangelical divided by 65% of all white voters --- and they overwhelmingly voted for Trump. And they were clearly very motivated to vote because 42% is significantly higher than their percentage of whites otherwise.

Edit: And check out the 1976 electoral map when Jimmy Carter (blue) won the election, after he wore his evangelical beliefs on his sleeve. (Reminder: AFTER the civil rights bills of the 60's and Roe v Wade)

Then he and other Democrats proposed taxing churches and their organizations, and the evangelicals like Falwell gave their full support to Reagan and the Republicans. It's been that way ever since 1980.

They were determined to reward his behavior and they came close to succeeding. I think they're the biggest stumbling block to progress in this country, mostly because they can't be reasoned with. They are utterly convinced all of the time that they are right and God agrees with them. If most Americans knew what a threat they were to our country's well-being, it wouldn't be nearly so hard to get people to vote.

... I've repeatedly pointed out that it's the white evangelicals who keep strongly voting for Republicans. Most of the time, my posts with the numbers to support it don't even get replies here. There's probably people worried about upsetting the religious Democrats?

and they are not people you want to have in power over you. I'm not an atheist, but the atheists I've known in life have been more generous and caring for their fellow man than the average Southern Baptist, to name a few. Christian Democrats should already know we're not talking about them when we talk about evangelical influence in our politics. They know they're not your average evangelical.

... in my family and know it's about impossible to point out evidence to them, such as Trump not behaving like a Christian at all.

The blinders go up immediately and they just deflect to other things.

But the Christian Nationalism problem will persist because they have amassed significant power and are well funded, even as the number of followers drops. They put immense pressure on their congregants to vote, even to the degree that they embarrass the ones who don't vote. Two books I absolutely recommend for anyone interested in this:

Katherine Stewart, The Power Worshippers
Sarah Posner, Unholy

You knew the only thing they were good for was to misidentify the anti-Christ. So sad that their scripture informs them of what to be wary of....and they all walk off the edge of the cliff together, oblivious to their blind spot.
