(10,252 posts)Aristotle and Cicero both wrote about the virtue of justice. Even the Dalai Lama has written that righteous anger in response to injustice can be beneficial in correcting injustice for the benefit of others.
There's nothing to be bitter about. We can harness the energy of righteous anger in the pursuit of justice. And so we should.
Justice is a virtue!

We didn't get it.

(14,578 posts)Miller is just like Heydrich. A fanatical white supremacist. And he IS IN FACT guilty of crimes against humanity - at least 10,000 counts, and 545 counts of genocide.

I want to physically hurt that vile piece of putrid flesh...I want death by a thousand cuts (literally)..one stab for every family ripped apart, every caged baby, every orphaned child, every muslim denied entry...I want agonizing pain but still breathing when I throw his reptilian carcass into an unmarked grave...and that still wouldn't be enough...

(471 posts)... I hear you; and there's a whole bunch of me that feels that way and can envision worse retribution ....
... Trump is vile; but his mental illness and constant circle of enablers is the cause ...
... Miller is - I have no word - a complete puzzle for me: his background is at odds of his violent/vicious/venom ...
... having said that - would you be able to look at yourself in the mirror if you went this route? ...
... we need to put our efforts into ways to squash his influence and zero-out his power ...
... perhaps, you will say that my approach is why we Dems always end up with the sticky end of the stick; but I believe vile people thrive in anger filled marketplaces - and we aren't (and should never be) vile. ...
... hang in there; work off some of this negative energy and get ready to work on... we can make it better only if our efforts are to make improvements not take revenge. If John Lewis could forgive those who beat and nearly killed him, we can try to do the same.

(43,192 posts)and had Trump sign off on it, deserves serious jail time. Just like waterboarding imho. Except this - think about this - targeted not our alleged enemies, but children and their poor families. Total moral failure. You'd call it war crimes if we were at war and any participant engaged in such behavior. It's systemic child abuse. To the poor children, it is torture, psychological as well as physical.
What I haven't heard in all the reporting on this is any indication that the children were well cared for, that social workers were looking after their mental health and development, that nannies were involved. All I saw on the news was cement floors, blankets, and chain link fence pens and cages.
Serious jail time. The Hague. Don't let them lie their way out of this one.

(21,497 posts)crimes against humanity are a perfect fit.
Needs to be a very public trial and conviction in the name of justice. The US does not recognize the validity of trials at The Hague. It's better maybe that we own this one ourselves and atone for it as a nation.
