The GOP knew it, as well, which is why many of those running down-ticket tried to get their constituents to do it despite Trump's insistence. Of course, Trump has the stage and the influence, so those efforts failed for the most part.

things seem to always happen in close races where mostly voting machines are used. And those mysterious abnormalities always favor republicans for some reason.

trump's sabotaging of the Post Office ended up sabotaging his own re-election as Dems voted mostly by mail anyway, which forced paper ballots that had to be hand counted, thus no electronic voting machine shenanigans.
