It's what I've been saying all along: Brace yourselves. The next Donald Trump could be much worse
I don't necessarily agree with the offered solution but I do agree that the danger is there.

That's dawned on me many times. Actually, I was really surprised that such a dysfunctional fool could have gotten so far. I'd always assumed that a tyrant in the White House would be much smarter, better looking, and an incredible public speaker. Turns out a big chunk of the American public is far more easily bamboozle than I could have imagined.
When some people's expectation are THAT low, it doesn't take a genius to bewitch them. Just think of how many more people could be won over by a really talented fraud.

(17,647 posts)Biden will be successful if, through good governance, he can pull voters from the right into our camp. If not, if we remain close to the center, it gives a smart Fascist and short path to travel. If Trump wasn't so broken, we could not have beaten him and our rapid march to the right would have entered new territory from where there could be no bloodless retreat. The next Republican may not be stupid, may not be so arrogant or disgusting. We need not worry about the hard-core right, they are going nowhere. The crowd that believes that Moby Dick is a venereal disease will always remain stupid, angry and aggressive.
We need to convince people that a government that actually works for the benefit of the working people is a good thing, instead of a Marxist plot. It will be an uphill struggle against big business, big money and the significant residual Republican power in the Senate and the Courts. The Biden/Harris team may be our last best chance. I hope that they are up to the challenge.
