I think another attempt by right wing to see what sticks.
However, we shouldn't ignore...... need to get right in their lying faces!

(8,515 posts)They are going to blame O. for the lack of Security.
Listen these guys are fucking nuts...What they did to Holder was horrendous. Right wing
media held on to this story forever even till this day. They are gonna milk this story
until election day and thats what pisses me off.

Don't worry about it. They have no credibility at all.

(10,272 posts)I don't think the majority of the media will run with it. Any cred he had with them he lost when Fast and Furious blew up in his face, and Hillary isn't exactly known for backing down from bullshit-artists like Daryl. It's an issue that I have no doubt the Pres., his SoS, and campaign teams know back to front, ('cause they were THERE) and they won't get caught off guard...let me put it another way--expect Team Obama to take this knife away from Romney, and stab him in the fucking heart with it. As always, I could be wrong, but I expect this to be a non-issue, just another attempt to throw anything...ANYTHING at the wall to see if it's made out of sticky-stuff.

(7,820 posts)Make political hay out of this right before the election? Of course. Politicizing National Security is what they do. Will it work? I'm doubtful this time.

(10,942 posts)I doubt democrats will get caught by surprise. Look, if Romney does poorly in the debate and goes down by double digits, republicans are going to throw everything, including the kitchen sink at President Obama. Republican efforts will dig a deeper hole for themselves. The Obama truth team is firing on all cylinders, look at what they did with Romney's bullshit about being tougher on China than the President, the truth team has essentially massacred that asshole.

(8,515 posts)I found this site a couple of months ago, I'm rather new to all this and
found a good amount of paranoia when I first began. But you know what? We are dealing with
such sleaze bags that I suppose we need to maintain vigilance.
By the way, someone just posted a U.S. News and World link siting the same story.
I hope everyone is right that republicans one again are grabbing at straws.

And we get suspicious of low count posters sometimes. I had a low post racist troll try to interact with me earlier today.
But I understand that you are just concerned. The GOP have already called for Susan Rice to resign but she said what she knew with a caveat that is was the best info she had at the time. There was no deliberately trying to lie.

(60,536 posts)There's a faction here on DU that is not dissimilar from the snobbery of Romney's beliefs about "the 47%". They prefer to rant, rave, insult and set up false standards of what qualifies a member to be a "good" participant here at DU.

(8,515 posts)The thing is Issa and his idiot republican friends on oversight are so desperate that they are
gonna try anything and see if it sticks. Look what they tried with Holder.
I like to be pro active against this kind of shit and get immediate feedback for counter attacks.
D.U. is great with breaking news and I learn a lot from the posts.

(7,724 posts)As Nancy Pelosi pointed out today on CNN, it was the Republican Congress that refused to give the State Dept the money requested to do things like fortify and improve embassies, hire security, etc. I think this could be deadly for the Repubs.

(14,881 posts)Romney's first attempt to make political hay out of the murder of Ambassador Stevens was a massive FAIL. So they've waited a few weeks for his embarrassment to blow over and now the surrogates try again.
Dumb move. Just reminds us of Romney smirking over the grave of a true hero and patriot.
pinboy3niner
(53,339 posts)Issa uses the Fox News 'sumsay' attack, saying he has anonymous sources whom he will not identify.
The facts: Ambassador Stevens knew more about the security situation in Libya than just about anybody. He planned a trip to Benghazi. With all of his intimate knowledge of the situation, and with the latest intel at his disposal, he went forward with the trip and did not decide to cancel it--even though the consulate's temporary quarters did not provide ideal security.
Issa is doubling down on a failed strategy...

UPDATE
A new Washington Post poll conducted Sept. 26-29 found that Obama has a 14 point lead over Romney on which candidate Americans trust more to do a better job handling terrorism and a five point edge on trust in handling international affairs.
