Georgia secretary of state announces hand recount of presidential race

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) announced Wednesday he will oversee a hand recount of ballots cast in the Peach State as President-elect Joe Biden maintains a slim lead over President Trump there.

Raffensperger, who has come under an avalanche of pressure from Republicans to take some kind of action given the tight statewide margin, said he will implement a risk-limiting audit to cover the presidential race. The audit is expected to be done by Nov. 20, when the state must certify its election results.

“With the margin being so close, it will require a full, by-hand recount in each county. This will help build confidence. It will be an audit, a recount and a recanvass all at once. It will be a heavy lift, but we will work with the counties to get this done in time for our state certification,” Raffensperger said at a press conference. The announcement comes as Trump and Republicans in Georgia have promoted baseless allegations of voter fraud in Georgia to explain the more than 14,000-vote margin that separates Trump from Biden in the historically red state.

Regardless of the results from the recount, Biden will still have enough Electoral College votes to win the White House. With calls from Georgia and North Carolina still pending, and hesitance from some outlets to call Arizona for Biden amid his lead there, the former vice president still has 279 electoral votes after winning the Rust Belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Each time a state does this and it comes back confirmed that Biden won, it just makes Trump look more and more like a bad loser.

Recounts never change more than a dozen votes. And this way, when it's recounted and nothing changes, and with a Republican SOS, it just makes the GOP look worse.

Biden becomes President on January 20th, 2021 no matter what Trump chooses to do or not do.

And the second paragraph states that the recount is expected to be done by November. 20th.

needs to be funded. I hope that isn't affected by this as I've heard the reason given by the GSA is that they can't sign the document to fund the transition until an ascertainment that Biden has won is clear. I see this as another attempt by the trump admin to hang on to power by not releasing the funds.

Pamela D. Pennington, a spokeswoman for the G.S.A., said in a statement on Monday that “an ascertainment has not yet been made.”

She added that the “G.S.A. and its administrator will continue to abide by, and fulfill, all requirements under the law and adhere to prior precedent established by the Clinton administration in 2000.”

And Ohio. Rove successfully flipped votes in Ohio in 2004. Insiders testified to this. He allegedly was going to try again in 2012 and he included FL in that—at least if you believe Anonymous who claimed to have uncovered Rove’s plan and stopped it.

Regardless of whether or not Anonymous truly did see evidence of a man in the middle attack in 2012 (and prevent it), there is no way to know without a manual recount.

Maybe one way to prevent this sort of thing is to have a “spot check” manual recount of several counties. And those counties are random each election and not known in advance? If irregularities are found then a state-wide manual recount is triggered.

Right now there is no way to determine if vote flipping is done in many states, including FL. Paper ballots don’t mean much if they aren’t audited against results.

We don't need ESS hackable voting machines.
Just a more efficient system of paper ballots.

Seems that is the only method they're trusting.
GOP has put their total faith in hand counting paper ballots by repeatedly demanding it be done.

Ted Cruz mentioned wanting this and so did Martha Maccallum. Are they not in on the secret that their party has benefited from suspicious polling vs. machine totals for decades?!

According to the Washington Post there is a difference of .3% in the vote count. As it stands right now Joe Biden has enough electoral votes without Georgia or Arizona.

There is no automatic recount in GA. Candidate can ask for a recount, but candidate is not entitled to a hand recount.
