'Squad' members give Cori Bush affordable tips on congressional attire: 'Thrifting, renting, and..."

Members of the “squad” gave Rep.-elect Cori Bush (D-Miss.) tips on dressing for Congress affordably this week after the political newcomer discussed the reality of “being a regular person” going to Capitol Hill and having to dress for the job.

“The reality of being a regular person going to Congress is that it’s really expensive to get the business clothes I need for the Hill. So I’m going thrift shopping tomorrow. Should I do a fashion show?” Bush wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.

The congresswoman-elect received thousands of responses, many of them encouraging.

“Whatever you wear is Congressional material, because you are a Congresswoman. You make your floor speech in nursing scrubs and clerical collar, and I'll get my kids and tell them, 'That's what a Congressperson looks like doing her job,'” one user, Irami Osei Frimpong, wrote.
