GOP Congressional Candidate Posts Gun on Facebook-Captions it ‘Welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama"

Words fail me.

It is Hard to believe this is the America I grew up in.

Sorry if y'all have seen this. I just saw it for the first time.

GOP Congressional Candidate Posts Photo of Gun on Facebook, Captions it ‘Welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama’

A Facebook photo of a handgun posted on Friday by Brad Staats, the Republican nominee for Tennessee's 5th Congressional District, has stirred controversy over its accompanying caption, which concludes with the words "welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama."

"Many people in Tennessee keep asking me about my opinion on Second Amendment rights. Apparently Tennesseans are part of that crazy crowd that Obama says ‘cling to (their) religion and guns,'" Staats wrote, referencing remarks made by then-candidate Obama at a California fundraiser in 2008. "Well, then I must be part of that crazy crowd. Here is something that I usually have with me. Welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama."

The photo of a Colt 911 semi-automatic pistol raised concerns among some who thought Staats might be threatening the President.

it looks like a solidly blue congressional seat, but maybe this idiot could do some coat tail damage to the repubs in his state.

Excuse my language, but this is just beyond the pale.

It is embarrassing that any American thinks it is okay to post that kind of filth.

It is extremely embarrassing to me as a native Tennessean.

Today I have taken on a post on Facebook from a minister, of all people, who is pushing that Obama is a Muslim, supports infanticide, and assorted other horrors.

I am sick of it.

Keep giving them an earful! I'm watching the election maps and Tennessee is within' the margin of error in most of the numbers I've seen.

I bet you'd love to wake up in a blue Tennessee!

It is very difficult in such a strongly red state and I must be judicious in posting on Facebook because I live in a small town. I only take on lies I see posted because I have facts to back up my positions.

Some things their posts are so outrageous, I cannot remain silent. They are mystified that anyone here can be Christian and a Liberal. Sometimes I simply tell them I am a Liberal BECAUSE I am a Christian. They don't get the concept.

I very much doubt that Tennessee will go blue this year, but yes I would love it.

He was in 'show business'

Brad received Baccalaureate of Arts in English Literature from Oral Roberts University with a second degree in Music. While continuing his education at Florida State University, Brad was offered an opportunity to perform on Broadway and travel with their touring group. His performances include well known hits like “Phantom of the Opera,” “Evita,” “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” and even performed at Dollywood.
With the birth of his first child, Monet, Brad decided that “show business” and the type of family life he wanted were not compatible. He changed careers and decided to settle down, raise a family and begin a business career.

As much as I really hate Facebook, I'll have to go on now.

EDIT; Holy shit! That's MY district! My comment - "As a Tennessean living in the 5th District, I find this post Highly offensive! You, sir, are obviously unfit to represent this great State. I'm definitely voting for Jim Cooper!"

Good luck running against Cooper. Unless it's stolen by those damn DRE's that were supposed to be removed.

I mean, it's 2012 already and they still have their guns!!!

These idiots should perhaps realize that Obama has done nothing, nothing at all to take their loving guns away. In fact, Obama smartly will not even touch gun control as an issue because it hurts Dems. I am not sure what they protest against were their constant gun porn.

By the way, I am a believer that there is nothing wrong with owning a gun. But for freaking sakes, act like a responsible grown adult with it.
