Is anyone else nervous? (A talk me down thread)

I suppose I am every election but since it only happens ever four years, I don't remember being this nervous.

I really don't think Mitt can win this thing (election) but I believe this is the last possible opportunity for him to do so. I've actually been surprised at how bad a candidate he has been and there is a part of me that worries tonight might be the night. He could be charming in a klutzie kinda way and win over enough people to pull this off.

Reassure me. I think what I really need to see is that Obama picture with "I've got this thing" on it. Or the equivalent

But I'm generally a worrier, so I'd be worried if I wasn't worried

However, I'm positive that Obama and his team will be ready for this debate. And I know that Obama is on the correct side of the most important issues in this country.

My main worry is that Romney will call Obama a liar multiple times and Obama won't be given the time needed to explain nuances of the topic at hand.

I feel like I need a support group.

I'm freaking out a bit. I have the most sincere faith in our President, and I know that Romney is a walking disaster area. However, you never know what could happen with these debates.

Someone could have a great night and someone could have a really bad night. The possibilities are endless.

I saw Romney speak last week at an education event that was televised. He did remarkably well. He actually sounded human and reasonable. The question is...can he pull that off during a debate, where he is going toe-to-toe with his opponent? I think this situation is the kind that Romney loathes. He doesn't like to be questioned or challenged. He's a narcissist and he doesn't do well interacting and being asked to clarify, confirm...or be more specific. I think Romney has the greater chance of being thrown off.

However, he is very well rehearsed. That could really help him. However, endless rehearsal means that he has memorized specific points. That doesn't mean he will do well in a debate, which is fluid. Memorizing a bunch of mini speeches can give you a false sense of security going in. So, if Romney enters that room, thinking that he's got it down because he's so well rehearsed--he could get really nervous and run off the rails when he is forced to just be himself and go off script.

I need to be talked down too...so I'm probably no help.

Does anyone else want to add--how they think it will go down tonight???

I'm wondering if Romney will introduce new, specific plans?

Do you honestly thing Romney can suddenly become a competent candidate? His strategy in the primaries was to keep quiet and let the others go at each other. Once he started getting confronted he became flustered and that is going to be his undoing. The fact that he's been practicing "zingers" since August shows us that he has no idea what he's dealing with. It's over.

that's a good thing.

The only thing you can do is to turn off the talking heads after the debate.....

Romney is, has been, and will be an awful candidate,
and the only worry is how far will the media pundits go
to help him while helping themselves to that superpac money.

I used to do some public speaking and usually didn't sleep the night before a presentation. I can't imagine being in a debate that's this important.

...debating, speaking in public or visiting other countries. Obama handily beat Gramps, who has much more political knowledge, experience and respectability than Mitten could ever wish he had.

I'm hopefully optimistic that Obama will verbally kick his stupid ass in front of everybody.

sometime, long ago, I found a card for sale with that quote on it. All fancy like with a hand painted border. I bought three of them and framed them. I have two at home and gave one to my son the worry wort (wonder where he got it?)

Now's a good time to remember it. Thanks!
