There are two words that, when combined, President Donald Trump seems to hate more than any others in the English language. "Happy holidays."
I suggest flooding the WH and repug offices with wonderful Happy Holiday cards, tis the season and all. Sign them; Thoughts and Prayers.
It's the little things that count when thinking of others.

Edit to add. The phrase Happy Holidays is like nails on a chalkboard to the repugs.

(21,625 posts)And Ive seen MAGAts saying they are celebrating because they can say Merry Christmas again.
To my knowledge there has been no policy put in place allowing people to say merry Christmas. Nor was there ever a policy put in place to stop people from saying it that drumpf removed.

(3,404 posts)In 37 days we have the Holidays of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Years. When making a simple courteous greeting it is a simple non confrontational manner to state the all inclusive Happy Holidays. Unless it is someone that you see daily or weekly and have the opportunity to give greetings of a singular holiday, why not include all of them? Also using Holidays eliminates the awkward need to make religious snap judgements on whether the greeted celebrates which of the religious celebrations and in the spirit of civility and kindness we postpone the next religious war a few more days, then include New Years as the cherry on top, which is day everyone recognizes.
I find the entire debate about a simple greeting meant to be an act of kindness despite the wording used, and a small effort, even to strangers that I have never met that I not appear to be a self righteous Ass like the president of the United States.

(63,221 posts)holidays starting in late Nov/early December starting with the beginning of the Advent season and then there are a number of feast days (Immaculate Conception, St. Nicholas, etc.), special masses and other holidays depending upon which Christian denomination you belong to.
So actually, "Happy Holidays" is the appropriate and polite greeting from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day for just about everyone. I only say "Merry Christmas" if it is actually Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and I am certain that the person celebrates Christmas. Otherwise, it just doesn't seem appropriate.
