My personal history was also changed on a December 1, four years ago. My father was born on December 1, 1916. He passed away on December 1, 2016—the evening of his 100th birthday. He was a man who set goals and met them with precision. He is missed greatly.

I will light a candle this evening—in honor of my father, of Rosa Parks, of World AIDS day, and of the Chicago fire that took the lives of so many school children.

What's with this day?
