President Trump remained livid at Attorney General William P. Barr on Wednesday, with one senior administration official indicating there was a chance Barr could be fired not just for his public comments undercutting Trumps unfounded claims of election-shifting fraud, but also for steps he did not take on a probe of the FBIs 2016 investigation into Trumps campaign.
A day after Barr told the Associated Press that he had not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election, Trump continued to complain about his attorney general, people familiar with the matter said.
One senior administration official said there was a chance Trump would fire his attorney general and asserted that the president was not merely frustrated over Barrs fraud-related assertions. The person said that several people are trying to persuade Trump not to do so. Like others, this official spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.
Trump, the official said, was perhaps even angrier that Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham did not issue a public report of his findings before last months election, and that Barr had secretly appointed Durham as special counsel in October, giving him extra legal and political protection to continue the work he started a year ago. Durham is examining whether crimes were committed by law enforcement during its 2016 investigation of whether Trumps campaign coordinated with Russia.
A lot of it is Durham, the official said. A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment.

(7,858 posts)this could be Barr's attempt to look like a good guy instead of what he is: an ass-kissing toady....and fired Trump loyalists tend to get a second "life" as guests on CNN and MSNBC righteously defending their "I didn't want to do the illegal, unethical, depraved, vindictive stuff but Trump made me do it...blah blah blah"

(7,858 posts)there wasn't any part of the election process he and Trump didn't corrupt...USPS, ballots boxes, voter suppression, voter intimidation..and that's why Trump jumped in front of the cameras election night and declared victory...so sure he had it in the bag...but the final tally told a different story...in their zeal to destroy the voting process they failed to factor in Trump Disgust..Barr and Trump were stunned into disbelief...they rigged the election but somehow the election didn't stay rigged and Barr was suddenly out of a job...now what?...a revisionist re-write with Barr "taking on" Trump...

(13,621 posts)society telling him to throw in the towel. They may have been perfectly happy to see Trump pull off the steal, but he blew it if he ever had a chance. And if he still tries to seize power somehow, what good are their packed courts? They won't mean much if Trump can just rule by decree. Then if Trump is overthrown somehow, they might be gone altogether. No telling what they might be replaced with.

(17,184 posts)They all knew who and what he was. They swore fealty; they defended him, they lied for him. They abandoned ethics and principles for him because he was the president.
And yet they didn't debase themselves enough. How fucking sad is that.

PINO would be afraid to do it.
Otherwise he'd do it, not whine about wanting to.
