The Nixon pardon was different. It was recognized that his political life was over, and, except for G. Gordon Libby media's presence and Chuck Coulson's evangelism, the worst of the worst criminals around him went into their holes and out of public life.

Something galling about the subordinates going to jail while the principal got a pardon.
