Like the Saudis did, renting whole floors worth of unoccupied rooms in Trump hotels for weeks at a time.

Yup. They're the only ones who would stay there anyway. Doubt if anyone attending the event would have booked a room there. It keeps the riffraff out too, you know those beastly boys with their gunz.

loophole in how emoluments are handled and should be remedied by new legislation if we get a Senate majority.

All past Presidents put their assets in blind trusts and completely stepped away from their businesses. You couldn’t “bribe” a POTUS through his business because he would never know it.
And remember, trump promised to do this during the campaign and up to the Inauguration.

The norms Trump has broken will be enthusiastically exploited by the next, unfortunately more competent, Repuke POTUS.

But we have never had anyone close to this corrupt.
What I don’t know how to fix is the Imperial Presidency. It has evolved that the other two branches won’t/can’t check the the Executive. Why didn’t Congress and the courts stop his lawlessness?

seem to be content with a unaccountable, lawbreaking dictator so long as it is one of their own party. A Dem (bare, technical) majority in the Senate will test if our party is willing to declare "enough!" or not...

don't have political party preferences. Lots of them have scads of money. The location of the hotel is what they will be looking at, not the rates.

get caught in that trap. Most of the ceremony will be virtual and I am sure Biden does not actually care where Matt Schlapp or any other of those imbeciles go, as long as they do not attend his inauguration.

So it is unlikely that there is enough demand for the hotel rooms.

Another miscalculation and incompetence on Trump's part.
