It creates an atmosphere--the whispering, echoing, the black lines through peoples' eyes, the furtive shots.
"...even your own family..."
"...they tell people they're smart and you're out of control..."
They show his weakest moments. The ad humiliates him.
Every communication has an objective, and I am wondering what it is. There's a reason for it, but I'm not seeing it.
Have to think on this some more.

He is already hindering their chances there by telling everyone the elections are rigged, thus making voters think voting is a waste of time. This depresses the republican vote. Maybe they see that and want to encourage further foolish behavior.
