Police in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday blocked off downtown on New Year's Eve.

"Lexington police are asking people to avoid the downtown area of Short and Market St.," WKYT-TV reported Thursday. "We've heard reports of bars downtown being evacuated."

The Lexington Police Department warned people to avoid downtown.

An unfunny prank could be something as simple as putting a bag of Scott's fertilizer in the RV.
The dogs are trained to smell organonitrates and inorganic nitrates. I'm sure you've noticed the odor of ordinary yard fertilizer.
To a dog, the difference between a 20 pound bag of Turf Builder & 500# of AmNO would be meaningless.
Then somebody who thought it would be funny to cause a panic only needs to take the fertilizer out of garage, put it in the RV, park it, and leave it for several hours.
The dog becomes an unwitting ally in the prank.

They lie and say the dog "alerted" just to allow an illegal search.

The 4th Amendment has been whittled down to a splinter due to the insane "war" on some drugs.

You cannot travel from So Az to Tucson or points north without going through one. They are many miles
from the border. They have dogs there, who can smell if you're not a US citizen I guess. Of course, the dogs
are for drugs. A friend driving north to Tucson had a dog alert on his pick-up truck. My friend was thrown in the
back of a BP vehicle and driven to Douglas, AZ, where there was an X-ray machine, while another officer
drove his truck. A distance of over 60 miles. They x-rayed the truck, found nothing, and let him go.
No "Sorry sir", just handed him the keys. This is a very white guy, Irish/Polish.
So, a nearly 4 hour side track, no repayment for gas.
The best way to fool the dogs is to have your own dog with you--it messes up the BP K-9s.
Did I mention that I don't like the Border Patrol? They are on a par with trump's wall.

1) People like myself, (living in a NORTHERN state) has no idea of what it's like living in your area. I really bet you're right on the money about how the fucking border patrol abuse their power!!! 2) you made me wonder why the cops couldn't have used dogs, when they went to investigate the report of that guy building bombs in his RV? THAT could have saved all the destruction caused by that bombing!!!

As per lexington PD Twitter account: The downtown area was evacuated and the police department’s Hazardous Devices Unit responded to the scene. Officers made contact with the driver of the RV and no explosives were located.

The scene was cleared around 10:15 pm.

People are gathering in bars and downtown for New Years Eve during a pandemic. Yep. I would call that suspicious activity. Wait, no, they are holding a super spreader event so 10K or more can die!
