An email from my bank about the stimulus check

This is only a part of the message and it repeats some of what people here have been saying,

To our valued clients,

We know that you might have questions about the recent announcement of additional government stimulus payments (Economic Impact Payments) and we want to share important information with you. As always, we’ll also keep our COVID-19 Resource Center at unionbank.com up-to-date with the latest information regarding stimulus payments as well as other financial support programs, branch updates, and frequently asked questions.

As a result of the recent coronavirus relief bill, the federal government began to provide a second round of stimulus payments to eligible recipients as follows:

The Treasury began mailing checks on December 30, 2020.

Union Bank® will credit the first round of direct deposit payments on January 4, 2021.

Payments will continue to be disbursed in multiple waves in the coming weeks.

That was nice of them to let us know when to expect to see the checks being deposited.

when their wingnut meaningless words that they use for cover are, that the cash should go to those who are actually affected (laid off, failing businesses) - not to those whose economic situation is unchanged (retirees) and (me ADDING) those who totally aren't affected and don't need it at all.

We know that wingnuts use whatever sounds good to cover their horrid policy positions, and that they exploit whatever relief for their fatcat string pullers (looking at you, Rafael Carnival CRUZ).

but also have to recognize that the reason for everyone (regardless of need) getting a little serving -- is that there is a deep and wide animus against the poor or disadvantaged "getting something" -- when other people don't. I know it's extremely sad -- but that's just who we are. Humans seem to be a little bit hard wired that way. And if you doubt me -- just ask anyone who works in social policy.

(Of course, good leadership helps in bringing out our best -- but .....) -- --

Don’t recall receiving one the last time.

I’m guessing people are bugging the hell out of the banks. I’d say that any receipt of fun’s within a week or so of the bill passing is pretty damn good, actually, especially when you factor in the holidays.

My wife and I have decided this will be blow money for us, so we need the time to figure out how to blow it. She’s thinking an Apple Watch. Since I already have one, I’m thinking Bass Pro/Cabela’s will end up with mine somehow!

Deposit on 1/1, funds immediately available. My partner’s sister has BoA, she checked a little after 2AM (it’s 2:45A here now), and there it was. She said she last looked at her account at 11pm, and it wasn’t there.

No deposit pending or anything. Just, poof, money.

You know, I have coworkers with Union bank, and they get oddities about their deposits sometimes. For example, with Thanksgiving, I got paid on Wednesday with direct deposit (we usually get paid on Thursdays, so a day early with holiday). Union was the only bank that didn’t deposit on that Wednesday.

I have BoA as well. When stuff’s there, it’s there.

It is pending, but it is in the available balance so I could use it today. They make all pending government direct deposits available on the day received.
