LA public health agency tweets COVID-19 death every 10 minutes to encourage people to stay home
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is tweeting one COVID-19 death every 10 minutes in an effort to encourage people to stay home.
The tweets comes a day after the county which is dealing with a worsening coronavirus outbreak surpassed 10,000 coronavirus deaths.
#Every10Minutes someone dies of COVID-19 in LA County. People who were loved and will be missed, the health department initially tweeted.
The Department told The Hill in a statement that the 24-hour campaign is meant to highlight the impact of COVID-19.
"We want to highlight the devastating impact of COVID-19 on our community," the statement read. "More than 10000 people passing away this year, and all were loved by and loved others. "
Each tweet briefly describes the person who died, accompanied by the hashtag #Every10Minutes. The tweets also include the phrase slow the spread. Save a life.
