Why America has had to endure this ordeal?

The political system is broken. There is total lack of leadership from every quarter.

There was not even a small group of politicians that could come together to reassure the people that they were secure from the attacks upon our democracy. There was no leadership. The people have suffered from anxiety and uncertainty for too long.

America was/is like a rudderless ship upon the waters. There is no one to captain the ship and no one to tell the captain the directions. They are all lost in politics and power. They do not deserve the support of the American people.

This is just my opinion.

vote allows those who have no business being in power, stay in power. The fault is not who are elected but the people who are voting for the imbeciles and those who stay home

We have a new group of would-be leaders stepping forward now, but they must prove themselves and earn respect as leaders. Leaders are often not loudly proclaimed; rather, they are acknowledged by those witnessing their efforts. Leaders may not always be successful. If they are genuine and diligent, people see. If we see hard work in a promising direction we want to follow that leader and work toward that goal. Their actions and not their words—no matter how lofty, make strong leaders. I’m optimistic about the new group. May some of them become good leaders.

Why on earth should California get the same number of senators as North Dakota? Also, allowing one party at a time to draw congressional districts. It should be a nonpartisan commission. This might have made sense when the country was founded, but it sure as hell doesn't now.

America is truly bereft of effective leadership. (The only functioning arm of the government has been the Democratic side of the House of Representatives, in my opinion.) Will someone step up to right the ship before it's too late?

Will those who have suffered continue to vote for incompetent, corrupt, malicious representatives? Are we a nation of sado-masochists that enjoy the pain?

... that is broken its republicans who don't want it any longer.

Democrats are not in power enough to do something about it, I do wish they would go beyond the extremes republicans go to do the right thing but then we risk turning into them too.

No ... its republicans ... period

One party is actively trying to destroy our system by exploiting its flaws. Sort of like how Hitler ended up being named Chancellor.
