Axios Co-founder: Some Republicans Believe Trump is Sabotaging Georgia Race
During an appearance on CNBC, Axios co-founder Mike Allen said that some Republicans believe President Donald Trumps erratic behavior in recent weeks is designed to sabotage the GOPs chances of winning the Georgia runoff elections, which will determine which of the two major political parties will have control of the Senate.
I talk to Republicans and they look at whats happening, and they say, You know, he must be thinking, I want to send a message, If Im not on the ballot, Republicans are in trouble, he added.

He can't grift as much with Moscow Mitch as leader of the senate

(8,770 posts)Mitch is doing a pretty damn good job without trump. He is in our face with no tax dollars for tax payers, that money is strictly for the extreme wealthy. People may get sick of that old stale ancient man piss in their faces. I would hope so.🤔

(8,770 posts)To laundry cash to Mitch makes him the whore and he has more power than Trump to apply Putys wish list. Self appointed power. Hoping XO Harris strips that absolute power from his rusty old ass.

(3,629 posts)I've said since the outcome of the election became clear that if he doesn't win, he doesn't want anyone to win. Of course someone will win the election, but if "they" beat him then he doesn't want any other members of "his" team to win in his place. He'd rather it be a sweep by "them" that he just got caught up in. That way he can spread or shift the blame for his failure, as he always does. If he loses but other Republicans win, then he is particularly the loser and he can't stand that.

(15,286 posts)There is no grand strategy to help, hinder, sabatoge or any other thing the GA election. He's having a rally in GA on Monday, but you know while he might say a sentence or two about Perdue/Loeffler, it will quickly turn into a mega-Festivus airing of his own grievances.

Add 4 years to Trump. CHF, COPD, more hair dye. You think he'll make it?
Joe Biden is older than Trump but he's taken good care of himself and it shows. Personal discipline counts for a lot.

It's better for his fragile ego if they lose. He absolutely does not give a shit about McTurtle and his majority.

(12,873 posts)Trump's behavior is driven by his mental pathologies, made worse by rage and desperation over the election as the reality of being booted from the seat of power and immunity draws ever near.
He will lash out to punish anyone he deems insufficiently loyal, especially those he thought were in his pocket.
Trump's tirades may well indeed factor into defeat for the Republican candidates in Georgia, but he is not playing three dimensional chess here because he is not playing with a full deck.
The man (if he can be called such) is in thrall to his malignant narcissism and handicapped by the appalling ignorance of the deluded belief that he knows more than anyone else without bothering to read or learn from others.
Donald Trump is a monster who leaves a path of destruction, heedless of any rational strategy or purpose other than feeding the immediate needs of his bottomless ego and rage.

(4,168 posts)There is no long-term strategy because Trump reacts on a moment-by-moment basis. But his reflexive punching to express his rage can do a lot of damage.
Takket
(21,590 posts)the only thing he cares about is himself and keeping himself out of prison and in power to bilk the American people out of millions.
anyone who thinks there is some altruistic bone in his body that is worried about the good of the GOP and maintaining control of the Senate has not paid attention to ANYTHING that has happened in the last 5 years. If he can terrify perdue and loeffler into helping him with a coup then that is what he will do, even if it means helping their opponents. He could not care less who controls the Senate, only what helps him.

(11,564 posts)Or perhaps it's one more expression that being butchered into meaninglessness, like the intended meaning "could care less" is the opposite of what they really mean.
In this case, however, I imagine "thought" is a "big strain" for them.

(101,331 posts)So yeah, he is sabotaging them:
"Additionally, the Georgia Consent Decree is Unconstitutional & the State 2020 Presidential Election is therefore both illegal and invalid, and that would include the two current Senatorial Elections."
Link to tweet
Now, those tweets contain too many long words for Trump to have written them himself, but he has allowed Stephen Miller or whoever to put them out in his name (or pressed 'send' at the end), so it is still sabotage by him, even if he has conspirators.
(It'll be interesting to see what Trump does if one or both of the Republicans manages to win; I expect he wouldn't be calling that "illegal and invalid" any more).
