(99,710 posts)BTW I read Jerry West's autobiography. He wrote about how his friends at the Belleair Country Club gave him the business for supporting President Obama.

(12,661 posts)And he's seeming to be driving himself up as Saban's replacement. Sark has been looking much better than he did at USC/UW.
(I'm from a PAC-12 family married to a Bama alum, so I've seen the evolution.
Also, two things: Saban is pushing 70; Miss Terri won't let him risk his health around that much GOP scum. She already limits his exposure around the Boosters after his bout with COVID earlier this year. And - he grew up with a strong sense of family and tradition; being from West Virginia, he is more likely to run to replace Joe Machine as a Democrat, which all Laz's Tuscaloosa relatives suspect he is, since he has a strict "no politics, no evangelism, only professionalism" component to his process.
Even though the Dolphin fans hate him for realizing he was a much better NCAA coach than NFL coach and leaving for the Tide.

(5,179 posts)If Saban won, he'd have to leave the head coaching job at Alabama. None of the Alabama fans would vote for that, but all the Auburn fans would.

(415 posts)I love it when Bama gets beat, but Saban runs a clean program. Not evebn Gohmert is a dumb as Tuberville.

(12,394 posts)So take into consideration that there are other people like me out there, before you run a sports person as a political candidate.

(83 posts)Is Saban really a democrat, or did he just endorse a childhood friend? I would think that a high profile person like him in a state like Alabama would make a difference. I firmly believe that the democratic party is really making a mistake by giving up on the South.
