Trump weakened by the NDAA Veto - He will lash out to assert dominance again.

.

Plan for Trump to do something punitive to the Republicans who joined in the veto.

Also, plan on some shock & awe to assert his power again, because he needs to regain his power.

This guy is as predictable as a two-year-old's temper tantrum in a toy store.

The alternate news sites are really pushing hard. And the idiots they are pushing to are armed to the teeth preparing for civil war.

There is a real concern that he will simply tear the country apart to get his way.

And I think the fade will be quicker than most do.
Lacking the power of POTUS, his opinion will diminish in import rather quickly.
The 20% will still follow on Parler, but much of that 20% suffer short attention spans. A new shiny object will get their attention.

I DO HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT. I pray for it every day. Yeah, I'm a Christian, so sue me.

The level of HATRED that has been stoked is overwhelming. THAT IS NOT GOING AWAY ANYTIME SOON.

Can we get back into running the government effectively? I hope so. I think so. But I have no delusions that anything will be "normal" anytime soon.

Remember when David Duke ran openly as a KKK or former KKK Grand Master and got his ass handed to him? They went back under the hood and into the back rooms of the rich and powerful who would listen.

Voting Rights act has been gutted. Voter intimidation and making sure that "certain" districts get to wait hours to vote are happening with more frequency.

The rich are getting richer in every possible scenario and the rest of US are paying the bill.

I REALLY HOPE that America wakes up and tosses these people into jail for their crimes so we can at least be somewhat safe again to rebuild after tRump storms out of the White House leaving tragedy and a big mess in his wake. But I am NOT counting on it.

The jester wants $2,000 in stimulus. McConnell says no.
The jester wants changes to the defense bill. Congress, including McConnell's senate republicans, overwhelmingly overrode.
The jester wants Pence to do something he can't on the 6th. Gohmert files a suit, Pence & Barr say get bent.
Judges he put in their seats keep laughing election lawsuits out of court.
Talk of martial law? Generals say, no we're not getting involved.
His influence is fading while he's still in office.

Yet he has stirred up a hornets nest and even as a former pResident he will have their attention.

Unless they can put him behind bars and keep him there, and even then he will claim he is being persecuted, like Nelson Mandela and not the cur he is.... the poison he spits infects so many and like rabid animals they will attack at will in their delusional state.

COVID isn't the only contagious disease we are facing and bigotry can not be cured with a vaccine.

I know he's been out for 12 years, but he had little influence over republicans still in office during Obama's years. How much influence did an honorable J. Carter have on dems in the 80s.
I don't think we agree on how much influence ex-presidents really have.
And, this one is going out a loser.

I am not talking about his influence on the reThug party, he may have done the deed with the pooch on that.

But his influence among the uneducated, pissed off masses? That is where I am concerned.

I don't "watch" them either, but stay informed partially because my son is one of the afflicted. So I remain cautiously optimistic.

He's BRAINWASHED to think that news outlets that have upheld consistently high standards of journalistic integrity for decades and in cases of print journalism 100 years or more of meeting high standards... that these outlets are LESS likely to tell the truth than Newsies that just popped up when tRump got the stinky end of the stick.

He lives with me, watches them and tries to "help me" see the truth.

I live in Minneapolis where there were shootings at the George Floyd Memorial and a stick up at gun point of one of my neighbors at a gas station about 5 blocks from my house, then a police shooting of a black man at a Holiday Station day before yesterday (even closer to home.) This is all within 1 or 2 weeks, hard to remember. I am working 6 days a week and losing my mind a little as far as when stuff happens because it's too much.

So my son calls me to see where I am at on New Year's Eve and tells me that due to the shooting at Holiday, there are protests and I should not go home. The protesters are bleeding onto the street in front of our house, or parking there, not sure. And that IF I go home, I should call him so he can come and meet me there to "protect me" because I am supposedly old an frail now. HAH

Now that was true during the day. BUT Minneapolis Police Chief Arradondo did a smart thing, the TRANSPARENT thing. He released the body cam video showing the police followed procedure and only shot AFTER the person refused to get out of the car and fired a shot at police. So STILL A TRAGEDY and damn did they have to fire over a dozen shots at him in a crowded gas station with flammable material and people all around? But still not the same as what happened to George and countless others around the country.

So by the time I got home what was going on was a vigil. People still mourning the loss and the crazy that is happening here, but no Antifa shooting up the neighborhood to punish the police.

And I am trying to decide if I should feel grateful to a son that won't speak to me most days that he cared enough to warn me or cynical and thinking he is just wanting to use the shotgun he bought behind my back and using me as an excuse to come home and be a vigilante.

So while I hope that justice and sanity will prevail, I see too much of insanity and injustice right now to be 100% convinced that there won't be a hell of a fight to get tRump out of the White House and possibly even a full on Civil War.

I hope to all that is GOOD that you are right. However, because the Reich Wing WANTS Civil War BADLY, it could come to that. They are ready to DIE for or KILL for that vision of MAGA. They still want slavery on some level, even if it's just the RICH ruling the poor and taking Democracy away. They are bat shit crazy right now and if they start it, we will have to finish it or become fertilizer or POWs in our own country.

I guess I am a pragmatist. I hope for the best but stay prepared for the worst.

But seriously, hate crime is on the rise. He isn't the FIRE burning in US, he just throws gasoline on it to make it worse.

The other thing he is doing is calling for a civil war to direct that hatred.
