McFaul: The definition of democracy: a system of government in which losers accept the results...

The definition of democracy: a system of government in which losers accept the results of free and fair elections. When that norm is violated, the political system is no longer a democracy. It’s just that simple.

I know of no serious scholar -- liberal or conservative -- who disagrees with this definition of democracy. If I'm in error, please send links to their scholarship.

The losers have to win for it to be true. Pedantic, perhaps, but I mention that with the all anti-democracy subversives and their whiny victims who insist we aren't a democracy in mind.
