Tennessee officials give COVID vaccine to family and friends

Outrageous, but why am I not surprised?

====

Officials in Hamilton County, Tennessee have been caught giving the COVID-19 vaccination to "close friends and family" after turning away elderly people by claiming they had run out of the vaccine.

When a journalist questioned a car of seven younger people who had been vaccinated, the people in the car laughed and said, "We got contacts," as in, they're connected to people who could give them the vaccination over older people who need it far more.

My almost octogenarian MIL asks almost every day when she will get hers.

The first people vaxed should be the frontliners as well as the worst most likely spreaders. Sounds like they got a carload of them. Sucks, but in the end any vaxxed peep is a good thing.

You just can't. These folks are the ones who then get away with things like this all their lives, creating more people like tRump and his ilk.

Somewhere along the line, some people decided teaching compassion is unnecessary. How wrong.

the unfairness aspect is horrible of course, any corruption like this needs to be swiftly punished and rooted out. No question. But there is a silver lining here which is that highly likely spreader people are getting vaxxed. That's really important because these are the people that are partying.

It would be another case of those doses not going to the critical people but it'd be wasted otherwise I suppose. The one who is responsible should get prosecuted of course.

This is the ugly truth about our local communities. And you can believe the status quo feeds on these networks.

It’s going to take some time to roll out a vaccine across the population. It is what it is.
