Bernstein on CNN - far worse than Watergate - calls for Trump to resign immediately

A criminal person in the form of Trump and a subversive person in the form of Trump; he is trying to instigate a coup- in a normal presidency, this tape would lead to impeachment, removal and immediate resignation.

and cabal got it up to speed (torture, anyone?, illegal surveillance?, vicious to the point of even treasonous retribution against those who cross them?, massive deception of the public?, illegal ruthless invasion of foreign nation for access to oil?, on and on and on?)

Trump got hard-core Republicans publicly frothing and raging to overthrow democracy, and that included seditionist Republicans who'd already been placed in government. A continuation of what Republican leadership cabal had already started -- and lost control of to a whackjob "charismatic populist leader."

The full impeachment of Andrew Johnson took all of four days. Do it!!! Impeach and get rid of him now. Don’t let him near the inaugural platform on the 20th. Mark him as the first fully impeached and convicted president in history!

And if the Republicans in the Senate don’t vote to convict after all this -hang it on them for all time.

needs to step down NOW. trump was proven guilty! They have betrayed our Nation and we need a clean sweep of politicians that bear faith and loyalty only to a party and to a man instead of to the Constitution and to our Country. They have clearly shown that they have failed for political reasons or personal ambitions. These men and women do not deserve to make our Laws, they can't be trusted, as they have shown. Who does that leave in the Senate besides Democrats? Mitt Romney?

We have a time honored tradition of the armed forces staying out of domestic politics, but if there was a time for the military to get involved it is now. We have a president* who has blatantly tried to stage a coup after losing an election. The military is sworn to protect the Constitution. Staging a coup is a crime against the Constitution and in this case only the military can defend the nation against it. No US Marshall or FBI special agent is going to march into the oval office and arrest this traitor, but the military can and must. Now it should be in the hands of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and now it is his duty to fulfill his oath.

An attempt to reverse the election outcome through fraud by pressuring a state elected official to invent phantom votes is a crime against the Constitution. Whether we call it a coup, which in essence it is, as it's an attempt to prevent a president elect from taking office, or sedition, it is a crime against the Constitution, which the military is sworn to defend, hence they should arrest Trump and remove him.

You can't point to a law. Waving the Constitution around is not a reference to a law.

The "coup", as you call it with some justification, is powered in part by calls from the right wing to "uphold the constitution". Their theory is that Biden stole the election and that they are just doing constitutional duty to take it back.

Them waving the Constitution over that is just as meaningless as you waving the Constitution in an attempt to get the military to break the law.

Doesn't work like that in both cases.

A leaked phone call Saturday in which President Donald Trump pressured Georgia election officials to find more votes for his re-election has sparked a wave of backlash.

In the hour-long call, first released by The Washington Post on Sunday, Trump cajoles, begs and threatens Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes” needed to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the state. Raffensperger politely stands his ground and eventually ends the call.

After the call, Trump wrote in a Twitter post that Raffensperger was “unwilling, or unable, to answer questions such as the “ballots under table” scam, ballot destruction, out of state “voters”, dead voters, and more. He has no clue!” The leaked audio shows Georgia officials pushing back on Trump’s unfounded accusations.

“Respectfully, President Trump: What you’re saying is not true,” Raffensperger replied on Twitter. “The truth will come out.”
